When it comes to buying a holiday home in Yorkshire, this could be the year to make it happen. So why is 2018 the best time to buy a holiday home?

For a start, it’s expected staycations will continue to be a popular choice for many families in 2018. The location of our lodges and homes in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors make an idyllic setting for your dream holiday accommodation.

The backdrop of this stunning landscape is perfect for people who enjoy the great outdoors or simply exploring the rich heritage of the nearby bustling market towns or Yorkshire Coast. There are plenty of family attractions, museums and traditional days out to be enjoyed. Historic York, the beautiful spa town of Harrogate, the Cathedral City of Ripon, Knaresborough and Thirsk are all within easy reach.

There is so much to offer in this much-loved part of Yorkshire not to mention the regional cuisine with a strong emphasis on locally produced food and drink. From traditional hearty pub grub to exquisite fine dining, foodies will not be disappointed.

It’s little wonder why this unspoilt area inspires so many. The family friendly festivals such as Deer Shed are popular throughout the year and there is always so much to do and see… including the stars!

The North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales are two of the darkest places in England because of the low light pollutions and clear horizons. The Sutton Bank National Park Centre close to our lodges is recognised as a Dark Sky Discovery Site. In February, the Dark Skies Festival is an exciting astrological event for all the family. Stargazing, night mountain bike rides, nocturnal nature walks, bushcraft and night photography workshops are all part of the programme.

Holiday-makers and cycling enthusiasts will also enjoy the return of the Tour de Yorkshire in May 2018 where riders tackle four stages through some of the most dramatic Yorkshire countryside. Spectators line the route which includes the climbing challenge of Sutton Bank, close to our holiday lodges and homes at Abbots Green and York House. It’s a huge event that is celebrated across the county.

Other highlights in 2018 include the walking festival ‘Walkfest’ over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend and a variety of popular food festivals such as the Malton Food Lovers Festival showcasing the best of Yorkshire produce. Traditional Yorkshire country fairs and farmers’ markets are also a treat not to missed.

You’ll never run out of things to do in Yorkshire – and buying your own holiday home means you’ll save the time, effort and money of having to book somewhere to stay each time you want to visit. You’ll also be able to keep everything you need in your own holiday home to avoid all that packing: just turn up and feel yourself starting to relax!

Whether you’re a foodie fan, enjoy outdoor activities or simply want to escape from it all, this most picturesque of settings with so much to discover and explore is an ideal spot for your new holiday home in 2018.
