There are many reasons to own a holiday home, and making the decision to buy one is only the start of your journey towards wonderful times and happy memories. But once you’ve embarked on your plan to buy, perhaps even more important than the holiday home itself is the kind of park it’s situated on.

There are many factors to consider when choosing the park for your holiday home. From its location to its atmosphere, amenities and activities, it is important to find a place that will suit the kind of holiday you and your family like best. That may be somewhere to unwind and do nothing, or a base from which to explore new things – or a bit of both!

This is why at York House Holiday Park we hold regular Open Weekends to give people the chance to view not just our holiday homes but also our whole site. We encourage visitors to find out as much information as possible from our park managers and current holiday home owners. We’re a really friendly bunch and are happy to answer any questions you might have about what you can expect when you buy a holiday home at York House.

Please do pay us a visit at our next Open Weekend on July 8th and 9th and, in the meantime, read on to discover seven reasons why we think you should consider York House as the ideal place to buy your holiday home.

Seven reasons to own a holiday home at York House

1. Your 5 star-rated relaxing, happy place

Countryside views Hambleton

With peace and quiet at the forefront of our park, there is no better way to relax than in your own holiday home in God’s Own County. All our holiday homes are set on spacious pitches designed to offer privacy and space while making the most of the lovely views all around.

We have been recognised as an exceptional holiday park and have a 5 star rating from Visit England. Our immaculate grounds feature a variety of flowers and greenery in mature gardens, with our award-winning (David Bellamy Gold Award) water and floral features attracting a host of wildlife.

2. Excellent location for the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors

York House is nestled at the foot of the Hambleton Hills, offering lovely views from our holiday homes. But it’s also within an hour’s drive of two national parks – the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales – and some of the best seaside towns in Yorkshire such as Whitby and Scarborough. There are endless opportunities to discover these stunning areas offering everything from rugged landscape and clifftop views to one of the largest expanses of heather moorland in the UK.

3. A fantastic base for walking, cycling and fishing

Sutton Bank

If you’re looking for activity holidays, York House offers easy access to a range of leisure opportunities. Nearby Sutton Bank is a hugely popular place for walkers, with some of the best routes being around the stunning Lake Gormire and the Cleveland Way. Cyclists up for a challenge can tackle the tough gradients of Sutton Bank and Boltby Bank, or there are a variety of gentler options through the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors. Kilburn Woods, meanwhile, is a favourite among downhill mountain biking enthusiasts.

4. Family friendly visitor attractions close by

If your holiday home at York House will be a place for family gatherings, there are plenty of places nearby that offer fun for all ages. Visit York just half an hour’s drive away for a day of history, shopping and eating out, or enjoy a fun family day out in some of North Yorkshire’s delightful towns such as Thirsk, Harrogate and Knaresborough. For fans of theme parks, Flamingoland and Lightwater Valley are 45 minutes’ / 30 minutes’ drive away.

There’s even a farm attraction – Monk Park Farm – next door to our park. Even better, all our holiday homeowners and their families get discounted entry to the farm whenever they visit!

5. Pet friendly on-site coffee shop

The Old Barn Coffee Shop, located at the entrance to York House Holiday Park, offers a wide range of homemade light-bite lunches and sweet treats. A popular spot for refreshments not just among holiday homeowners but also the local community and tourists, the café has garnered a wealth of five star Trip Advisor reviews along with various awards.

The coffee shop can cater for special dietary requirements, and is also dog friendly (it even sells doggy ice cream!).
