The Old Barn Coffee Shop has been named a 2020 Travellers’ Choice award winner by the Tripadvisor website.
The prestigious award is given only to the top 10 per cent of hospitality businesses around the world who receive consistently glowing feedback from their visitors.
The 2020 awards are based on guest reviews over a whole year prior to the coronavirus pandemic.
Clare Batson, who manages The Old Barn Coffee Shop, said she and her team were “over the moon” about winning the award.
“It means a lot to us because it’s based on the reviews and feedback that our customers post on Tripadvisor,” she said.
“We work hard to make sure our offering at the coffee shop is the best it can be, from the warm welcome to the homemade food, and this award shows us that we’re getting it right. It’s great recognition for the whole team, and we’d like to thank everyone who has given such lovely feedback about us.”
The award is the second in a year for The Old Barn staff. In December, they were named the Customer Service Team of the Year at the Flavours of Herriot Country Awards 2019.
The café, which had also been shortlisted for the Tearoom of the Year and Baked Product of the Year in the same awards, was praised by the judges for its smiley and engaging staff, delicious lemon drizzle cake and Malteser tiffin, and excellent coffee.
The Old Barn Coffee Shop is situated at the entrance to York House Holiday Park near Thirsk and is open every day from 9.30am to 5pm.
Seating is available both inside the cafe and on a patio outside, with a new layout and ordering system to comply with Government guidelines and ensure the safety of customers and staff.
